Essential Responsibilities
The Van Mechanic performs skilled mechanical tasks in preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of heavy duty vehicles and equipment.
Specific Responsibilities
  • Systematic diagnosis of malfunctions to include the following systems: fuel, electrical, and mechanical
  • Repair, adjust, and replace complete integral parts of gasoline engines, transmissions, drive train and differential, lubrication, cooling, exhaust, air, and hydraulic systems
  • Remove, rebuild, and replace automatic transmissions
  • Troubleshoot and repair HVAC system, air ride system, steering system, and brake system
  • Enters work data on work order
  • Maintains a clean and orderly work area
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
  • Four years of experience in automotive and heavy duty systems
  • Knowledge of standard practices related to the maintenance and repair of heavy duty vehicles and equipment
  • Ability to use jacks, wrenches, grease guns, hydraulics hoists, clean materials and other tools and equipment used in the service and repair of heavy equipment
  • Skill in the operation of electronic diagnostic equipment as well as power and hand tool used in mechanical maintenance and equipment repair
  • Basic computer skills required to extract information from the automated vehicle maintenance system and related software
  • Have own complete set of heavy equipment tools
  • Certifications on Freon 609
  • Experience in brakes and drivability on gasoline Chevy and Ford vans and Max Force internationals  
Must be able to:
  • Work any shift assigned
  • Lift, pull and push up to  50 pounds of dead weight
  • Climb up and down a ladder
  • Stoop, kneel, and or crawl
