Essential Responsibilities
The Drafting Supervisor, under the direction of the Vice President, plans, assigns, and reviews the work of drafters and other employees involved in the design process.  The Drafting Supervisor has extensive experience with drafting methods and tools and is able to provide CAD technical support in order to develop solutions for all application problems. 
 
Specific Responsibilities
  • Create model drawings in CAD format using SolidWorks
  • Draft CAD drawings of components, subassemblies, and assemblies using fabricated parts for design
  • Reverse engineer small structures and weldments in a fabrication shop environment
  • Be familiar with and follow established document control/filing procedures
  • Perform incoming inspections of engineered parts and assemblies
  • Make sketches of (2’-8’ structures and weldments)
  • Identify sizes of structural steel used in weldments
  • Create 2D and 3D drawings or electrical schematics using AutoCAD
  • Create customer manuals using MS Word, MS Excel, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Reader, and Adobe InDesign
  • Create drawings from fabricated parts or sketches
  • Create electrical schematics
  • Parts verification as component samples are received from vendors
  • Utilize basic measuring tools such as measuring tape, calipers, and micrometers
  • Utilize basic mechanical engineering skills
 
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum five years of drafting experience at a supervisory level
  • Minimum three years of experience as a CAD drafter/designer in a manufacturing environment
  • Certifications in SolidWorks and AutoCAD
  • Must have or be willing to obtain a commercial driver’s license
  • Possess a strong work ethic, positive attitude, and be detail oriented
  • Possess strong line drawing and Photoshop skills
 
 
 
Must be able to:
  • Spend long hours sitting and using office equipment and computers. The Drafting Supervisor may also have to do some light lifting of supplies and materials from time to time.
  • Carry, pull and push up to 50 pounds of dead weight
  • Climb up and down a ladder
  • Sit, stand stoop, kneel, squat, crouch and or crawl 
  • Twist or turn in confined spaces
